not sure if this topic has being covered recently.. my son asked me a question if the jw's have in the recent months being pushing a new end date to the system?
he was telling me about how his mother has being on him again about the urgency of the end of this system of things and he needs to do something asap.
i told him i am not aware of any new dates as i have being away from the cult for over 20 years.

The WT date of 2034 or 2040 sounds very much like what we heard for the build up for 1975. The WT has not come right out and set a date but have hinted at a date so that when it comes and goes they will just blame the rank and file members on being over zealous and going ahead of Jehova. This way they try to keep those ones in as they work toward a date and bring new recruits in. Fool me once.... .

One of my good friends decided to not take a free scholarship because 1975 was around the corner and he decided to Pioneer and make sure that people knew the end was at hand. Everyone that I knew of that knew him would plead with him to please take advantage of his football skills and get out of the religion and and live a prosperous life. He would laugh at them until about 1980. Definitely didn’t look like the end was that imminent after all. Last I heard he was a milkman and suffers from major illnesses and he doesn’t have a pot to pee in.
This is one thing I regret. I love to play ice hockey and would have loved to pursue my dreams of playing professional hockey. We were not allowed to pursue our dreams so I did not follow up on that. Maybe I was not good enough to play professional hockey but I will always wonder if I could have.

Twenty years from now it will be little more than a legend, with only a few octogenarian JWs who lived through it, and who listens to old people? The myth of "brothers running ahead" will be cemented in place.
What I have now read was CT Russell also said that 1914 would be the end of the system but when it came and went without any indecent, the society did their revisionist BS. I recall in the 60's and 70's how some of the old Bible Students that fell away after 1914 were looked at as apostates because they remembered the false prophecies. We were told then not to believe these people because they are all lies. Now what I know, they were not lies but more of the societies revisionist of what the society said then.

I remember and elderly brother, kind man that everyone in the congregation loved. He was dying of cancer in 1974 and he would say "if only I can hold out till 1975, then I will be in the new system and cured of my sickness." Poor man died in 1975 still holding onto hat hope.

I like many on here lived through those years and yes the hype was there but if you talk to J Dubs now they have a revisionist view as to what happened or didn't happen. That was the last straw for me.

it's either manipulative in the size of the group and pressure that creates, or in where it started or who started this, etc.
Just let the border patrol take care of this non issue. Vet them and if they meet the refugee criteria, give them get refugee status.

The trick is to double-check information from the research of others before accepting it as absolute.
I have being doing genealogical research now for almost 40 years. The above comment is correct. Do not take he research of others as being accurate unless they can back it up with documentation. Family stories are a good starting point to know where to look but once again verify it with documentation.
i have a nephew that has just recently being diagnosed with a life threatening disease through bad choices he has made in his life over the last 20 years.
now he has asked myself and my sons to be there for him and without being judgemental we have being up at the hospital every other day for the last couple of weeks.
now this is the part where i am just pissed right off.. one of my nephews other cousins goes to the hospital and starts giving him a guilt trip, saying that this was all his own fault that she couldn't talk to him for the last 20 years and his sickness now is all because he left jehooba organization blah blah blah.
My non-JW partner who has had very limited exposure to JW literature, accompanied me to the film Apostasy. Afterwards I was curious about his thoughts on the film. “Very pharasaical” were his only words. I have heard these words from other nonJWs too. In other words, a complete absence of compassion.
Interesting that among the first things nonJWs notice when seeing what happens at a Kingdom Hall is how closely the instruction and processes (eg., judicial committees, requiring proven repentance, etc) mirror Old Testament rules and regulations - minus the brutal bloodshed, I guess.
My experience to with people that have not being brought up in the organization. They cannot believe that a so called Christian religion can be so judgemental.

The JWs have no compassion. The only goal is to get to Armageddon.
There is something seriously wrong with an organization that finds delight in destruction of any human beings, although the JDubs are not the only religion that finds joy in the destruction of others.
